To maintain a federal registration, the owner must file certain maintenance documents between the fifth and sixth year after registration and before the end of every ten-year period after registration. A vigilance search is an ongoing, periodic search of Unites States Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) records and/or other sources (e.g., domain name registrations) to identify other marks in use and applications that may threaten the mark.
